Moon Shell + Cupertino

Moon Shell is our 2-year old silver doeling, a first freshener who was too young to breed last year. We’re so excited to see what kind of kids she produces!! Coop is an unusually colored, moonspotted little guy, born last year at our sister farm in Amsterdam, NY, Eros Suncatcher Homestead. These two beauties are sure to make some lovely kids. We’re ready for some surprises with this pairing!

Luli + Sylvan

A pretty blue-eyed second-freshener, who is the daughter of a doe I’ve admired for years, Doubletree Checkers, joined to our silver Flat Rocks buck, Sylvan. Luli’s latin name means “White Lupine.” She’s a dream and the friendliest sweetie imaginable. This is our first year breeding Sylvan, after having him transported from Texas. With Luli being such an absolutely gorgeous girl, we’re really looking forward to seeing what these two create together, and if we can make some silver magic!

Shadow Thief + Brimstone

Shadow Thief is our Flat Rock silver yearling, who is from exciting lines that are new to our herd. Brimstone is a young guy, and his mom, Chimera, is the most stunning moonspotted lady we’ve ever seen (see above) and comes from some spectacular lineage. Chimera has a beautiful, abundant udder (retaining that wonderful Chenango Hills dairy quality)  so expecting her son’s kids to be great dairy goats. And… silver from mama Shadow Thief. She really is a Shadow Thief, following us around the pen and looking to steal a little love all the time.

Kaliope is the sister of Cupertino and is a petite doe who makes up for her tiny size by being chock full of moonspots! She is two, but this is her first freshening, and I can’t wait to see what she produces bred to Sylvan.

Chimera + Chomsky

This striking doe caught our eye when we visited Capra Salato Farm a few years ago to buy our Chenango Hills doe, Siena. Since then, Chimera has haunted us and we still talked about her years later. When the opportunity came to purchase her in 2021, we jumped at it. Yes, that is a giant moonspot that covers half Chimera’s face and her neck. It gives a dramatic half-moon look to her face, especially with her blue eyes.  We bred her to our moonspotted Rosasharn buck, the philosopher Chomsky, looking for some moon magic!

Siena + Chomsky

I sought out Siena for her Chenango Hills pedigree, and Chomsky is the Rosasharn buck I wanted forever. They made beautiful babies last year, with stunning moonspots. Combining again for more super moonspots!

Rosie + Zydeco

Rosie is one of our most beautiful does. Every year she gives us some of the prettiest kids. The last two years were no exception, with dalmatian babies that were heartbreakingly gorgeous and so hard to part with.

We were so excited about our babies from this combination the last two years that we are repeating the breeding again with our super- buck, Zydeco. We are looking forward to more flashy kids this year from these two lovebirds.

Orisha + Sylvan

Most years we don’t keep any of our kids, preferring to seek out kids from other desirable lines to increase our herd’s diversity. Orisha was an exception: She is the daughter of Capra Salato TW Siena, who is a daughter of Chenango-Hills Phoebe. The Chenango Hills line is one of the first and most esteemed lines of the Nigerian Dwarf breed, with lots of champion dairy records. We got Siena already bred to a flashy cou clair buck from championship lines at Capra Salato in Maryland, so when Orisha was born, with the Chenango Hills pedigree, blue eyes, and cou blanc pattern, we knew she was a keeper! We bred her to Sylvan to see what kind of superstar silver kids we get!

Valkyrie + Sylvan

When I saw the picture of Valkyrie, I put a deposit on a doeling of hers for the next season. By a strange twist of fate, I ended up with her instead of one of her kids, and she still takes my breath away! She’s pretty impressed with herself, too, but hasn’t seemed to convince the rest of the herd that she’s the Queen… yet. This year, we bred her to Sylvan to combine these two powerhouses to make super-kids!
